Spotify Finally Delivers: Lossless Audio Rolls Out on Premium

It’s been one of Spotify’s most requested features for years — and now, it’s finally happening. Spotify Lossless audio has arrived on Premium.

Starting this month, Premium subscribers in select countries are beginning to see the long-awaited upgrade that promises music in richer, more detailed quality than ever before.

What’s the Big Deal About Spotify Lossless?

Lossless means you’re hearing music the way it was recorded — without compression or quality loss. Spotify now supports streaming in 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC, unlocking finer detail in every guitar riff, deeper punch in the bass, and crystal-clear vocals across nearly every track.

If you’ve ever switched from a compressed MP3 to a CD or vinyl and felt the difference, that’s what Spotify Lossless brings right to your device.

How to Enable Lossless on Spotify

If you’re a Premium user, here’s how to turn it on:

  1. Tap your profile icon in the top left of the Spotify app.
  2. Go to Settings & Privacy → Media Quality.
  3. Choose Lossless for Wi-Fi, cellular, or downloads.

You’ll see a “Lossless” indicator in the Now Playing bar when it’s active. For the smoothest experience, use wired headphones or Spotify Connect devices — since Bluetooth can’t yet deliver full lossless quality.

Supported Devices

Lossless works on mobile, desktop, and tablet, as well as many Spotify Connect devices from brands like Sony, Bose, Samsung, and Sennheiser. Support for Sonos and Amazon devices is expected next month.

Global Rollout

Spotify is rolling out Lossless gradually through October 2025 across 50+ markets. Premium subscribers in the US, UK, Germany, Japan, Australia, and more are already getting access, with other regions to follow.
